An operator is a term applied to a person who physically handles Volumes in the process of data backup.

Operators are usually responsible for:
  * Inserting or removing Volumes from robotic tape libraries
  * Sending to or receiving Volumes from offsite storage
  * Placing in or retrieving Volumes from storage
  * Stock control of scratch Volumes
  * Barcoding new Volumes
