No Distribution

The Repository Option No Distribution automatically Confirms a Volume destined for this Repository when Picked.

No Distribution Options

The No Distribution Options are:

  • True: Confirm when picked.
  • False:Do not Confirm when picked.

The No Distribution repository option removes the separate distribution/receipt stage for tapes moving to that repository.

When set to True, picking a volume whose destination is this repository causes TapeTrack to confirm the movement automatically. The tape is therefore recorded as being in the destination repository without requiring a separate distribution or confirmation scan.

Example:

  • Tape is in OFFS.
  • It is placed in a move to LIBR.
  • LIBR has No Distribution = True.
  • When the tape is picked from OFFS, TapeTrack confirms it into LIBR.
  • No separate “distribute/confirm at LIBR” step is required.
Setting Result after picking
False Tape remains in transit until confirmed at the destination
True Tape is confirmed into the destination immediately

Use it when the destination does not perform a separate receiving or distribution scan. Leave it False when you need proof that the tape physically arrived before TapeTrack records it at the destination.

It does not prevent tapes from being distributed. Its name means “no separate distribution step required.”
